099: The SoraRabbit Hole 99th Post Celebratory Postravaganza!
Welcome, everyone, to a great milestone in the history of the SoraRabbit Hole. That’s right, it’s the big 99th post! When I started this blog way back in 2019, I had no idea I’d manage to make it to nearly 100 posts. Why celebrate 99 and not 100? Well, I have something special planned for that one. You’ll have to wait and see.
I have done one anniversary post before. Way back on my first anniversary I posted 026: SoraRabbit Does an Anniversary. I meant to do another one when I hit 5 years, but I didn’t get around to it. So I decided to just wait and cover it here, on the verge of a huge milestone I never really thought I would end up reaching. Since I’m very busy working on my recently-launched YouTube channel and the upcoming traditional holiday posts, I’ll make this a pretty quick one. But I did want to take some time to look back on the 7+ years of this blog.
One of my first photos featured on the blog.
To be more precise, in addition to the 99 main posts, at the time of this writing, I also have 38 Short Hops, 60 Video Game posts, and two guest posts for a total (so far) of 199 posts on the SoraRabbit Hole! While I have recently branched out to YouTube, as I talked about in my latest SoraRabbit Update, I don’t intend to stop this blog. Although I have no idea if I have any loyal readers, I do still enjoy writing these posts and so I plan to continue for myself if for no one else. I have also committed to several long-term series on here that I would hate to abandon.
YouTube has been taking up an increasing amount of time and energy, but it’s nice to have this blog to fall back on and get my feelings and thoughts out in my preferred method of expression . . . the written word.
Speaking of long-term series, let’s take a look at the ones I have been working on. I will link the most recent post for each, as I list out all the previous posts in the latest entries.
Doctor Who! (Credit: BBC)
Doctor Who: Years ago I embarked on a long and exhausting journey. I decided to watch and write about every single season of Doctor Who. So far I’ve done the first seven seasons. I get into ridiculous detail, nitpick continuity, and generally have a lot of fun with a sixty year old television show. I’m looking forward to doing more, and have been toying on continuing in video form.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: My longest-running series, I started this one with post 12. I’m running through all of the Clone Wars and after that is done, I plan to cover the related series, and Rebels, Resistance, and the Bad Batch. It’s taking me a while, but I plan to get through at least the main series soon. It’s been nice exploring this lesser-visited corner of the Star Wars galaxy.

The Mandalorian: Yes, more Star Wars. I fell into this one because I enjoyed the Mandalorian so much and wanted to recap each season as they aired. I also covered The Book of Boba Fett and the recent movie. Once I get through the Clone Wars, I will add Ahsoka to this coverage, as that series is related.
So inspirational. (Credit: Tsuburaya Productions)
Ultraman: The first of the trifecta of tokusatsu. I love Ultraman and have every single blu-ray that has been released so far. However, I’ve only gotten around to watching the first three series. It’s going to take me a long time to get through them all, but I’m going to do it. I also covered a few episodes of Ultra Q and Ultraman in detail.

Super Sentai: The second of the big tokusatsu series I decided to cover. I’ve only gotten through the first two of these, but I plan to hit the third one soon. This franchise, of course, was the inspiration for Power Rangers. The stuff I’ve watched so far was never adapted into Power Rangers, but I am looking forward to getting to the ones that were. Fun Fact: There are a surprising number of crucifixions in these series.
Kamen Rider is amazing. (Credit: Toei Company)
Kamen Rider: Any discussion of the tokusatsu greats would be incomplete without delving into Kamen Rider. This journey is still in its beginning stages, as I’ve only covered the first series. I am currently watching my way though the second, Kamen Rider v3, which will be an early 2027 post. No spoilers, but it’s just as fun as the first one.
Classic comics.
Journey Through the Forgotten Comic Book Bin: In this series, I delve into my collection of old comic books and read through 3 or 4 of them, including vintage ads. Nostalgia and hilarity ensue. This is also my first multimedia project, as I recently started posting videos based on the posts. The videos cover additional material, more ads, and you get to hear me vocally making snarky comments about the comics.

Just Dance: This is one of my most ambitious projects. I have played and reviewed every main title in the Just Dance series and a couple of the side titles. I also did an elaborate recap post running back through each game and looking closer at them after years of Just Dancing experience. I also plan to do a lore post talking about the lore of Just Dance, but that may end of being a video instead. We’ll see.
One notable thing about my Just Dance series of posts is that it’s the only one that has crossed categories. It started as main posts, then shrank to Short Hops, finally landing on Video Games, where all new installments end up.

Dragon Ball Marathon: The newest addition to my post series. I wanted something similar to my Just Dance coverage, and I had a ton of Dragon Ball fighting games lying around. In this series I play through a few games in each post and review them, compare them to each other, and talk about my experiences playing through them. I’m a huge Dragon Ball fan, so this also serves the purpose of letting me talk about one of my favorite anime and manga franchises.

There are many more series that could get honorable mention here. Retro Corner, SoraRabbit’s Review Corner, Smash Binge, my annual Horror Movie Marathons, and the newer Rabbit Family Movie Night. There’s a lot of ongoing series and I’m sure more will come up in the future. Some get more focus than others, but I have more entries planned for each of these series.
Eww. (Credit: Rob Liefeld, Marvel)
For all the ongoing series there are several more abandoned or completed series. I did an excessive art review of Rob Liefeld’s comic book “art”. I experimented with a series called Comic Book Night where I would give mini reviews for whatever comic books I was reading that night. And there’s lots more. I covered lots of other things in great detail, including Chi’s Sweet Home, Bananya, and Taberareusa.
And then there’s the SoraRabbit Update. It went through two previous incarnations that I decided to abandon: State of the Fandom Address, and then Down the Rabbit Hole. SoraRabbit Update seems to be the final form of these posts, as the other two only survived three entries before I got tired of them. Those were my place to talk in a less structured way about whatever interested me at the moment and also provide updates on what I was currently working on.
How festive. (Credit: Jim Henson, Henson Associates)
And of course, who could forget my annual traditions: Halloween posts including a guaranteed Silent Hill post, and my Christmas Specials. Every year I review some Christmas media and either make fun of it, or get lost in nostalgia as the situation warrants. Usually both. The final post of the year is always my Video Game Year in Review, where I look back at my year in gaming and see how I did on my yearly video game list. I find that to be a nice contemplative way to close out a busy year of blogging and gaming.

And now let’s take a look at some of my very favorite posts from the first 99.

036: SoraRabbit Watches: Thunder Mask
This post was a random whim and one I’m glad that I indulged. Thunder Mask is a little-known tokusatsu show that is mostly lost media. I watched what I could find— regardless of the quality — and managed to get a great post out of it and had a lot of fun. That’s my measure of success.

033: SoraRabbit Does a Christmas Special - Alien Edition
Year 2 of my blog was one for favorites. Although I was really rushed this year, I still managed to make a fun and hopefully amusing post about ALF’s ill-conceived Christmas special. This was what really cemented in the idea of an annual Christmas post for me and is likely the reason I’ve kept it going all these years. Can you think of anything more festive than an alien learning about terminally ill children and suicide? I sure can’t!

035: That Time ALF Had a Comic Book
I revisited ALF shortly after the previous post to read and talk about the entire run of his licensed Marvel comic. Not only did I have fun revisiting this comic and finally finishing it, but I feel like the post turned out great. I was focused, I was concise, and I was informative. I’m pretty proud of this one.
So many Archies! (Credit: Archie Comics. Writer: Paul Kupperberg. Art: Norm Breyfogle.)
Speaking of comic books! This was one of the most time-intensive and research-heavy of my posts, but I think it was worth it. I went into crazy detail about multiple Archie series and the franchise as a whole, discussing nostalgia, comic books as a medium, and comfort art. There’s a lot more to Archie than I expected and this was a cool rabbit hole to fall down.

022: SoraRabbit Watches: Chargeman Ken!
Every now and then you stumble upon something that changes you forever. Chargeman Ken not only changed me, but it changed this blog for the better. This set the standard for what I want my posts to be. I went all out on this post and I think it shows. This will always be one of my all-time favorites and now Ken has hit my YouTube channel for two ongoing shows: Chargeman Ken Spotlight and Chargeman Ken Minute!

052: SoraRabbit Does a Christmas Special - Bad CGI Edition
This one was wild. I still reread this post now and then and reel at the fact that I was the one who wrote it. All my Christmas posts are done on a strict deadline, but I put extra time and care into this one. I wanted to make it as amusing and disorienting as possible, and I think I succeeded. The fact that I was able to make something worthwhile and entertaining out of one of the worst and laziest animated specials I have ever seen makes me proud.

032: Star Wars Gets Festive, or SoraRabbit Learns the True Meaning of Life Day
One of the absolute pinnacles of my blog. This was my first collaboration post with my wife, Cocoashade and we both had way too much fun making this post. We had a blast watching and poking fun at the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. This post was a high I will never reach again and if someone asks me to point out my favorite post, it will be this one.

Many more posts could be mentioned here, but you get the point. I love all my posts for one reason or another. I’m proud of my collaborations with Cocoashade, my extensive Kingdom Hearts coverage, and all my annual Christmas posts. It’s been very rewarding and enjoyable crafting these posts and I hope you have had fun reading them.
Party!
Thank you all for joining me for this Postravaganza! I wanted to get this (and my 100th) post off my To Do list before the holiday posts began. I appreciate everyone who’s reading this and who have read any of my nearly 200 posts. I thank you all for making this worth doing. Next up is the big 100. I hope to see you there!
